Shimmering color shifts thanks to thyssenkrupp

With the new color line ALUCOBOND® Spectra thyssenkrupp helped the tax office in Saarlouis to get its shiny new look. 

With its modernized facade the tax office in Saarlouis has a shiny new look made possible by the new color line ALUCOBOND® Spectra. thyssenkrupp Plastics was one of the parties involved in the creation of the dazzling new appearance. The plastics experts from the Materials Services business area supplied almost 1,900 square meters of aluminum composite panels in the color Cupral. The facade was modernized in close cooperation with S+T Fassaden.  

With ALUCOBOND® Spectra, different color shifts and luster effects become visible on the facade depending on light angle. The Cupral color produces constant color transitions, from vibrant red to bright orange. The play of colors is particularly striking in the evening hours.

 Key to the choice of the material was the orientation of the property: “The building extends in all four cardinal directions,” explains architect Jörg Kühn, adding: “Depending on the position of the sun and the orientation of the particular building section you get constant color shifts in the shiny panels, underlining the visual effect of the material.”
