Our path into a more sustainable future

The pillars of our sustainable strategy

We take responsibility. We are guided by the official ESG standards and work to exceed them every day.

We take responsibility. We are guided by the official ESG standards and work to exceed them every day.

For us, sustainability means using resources carefully and responsibly ─ at all levels. We have deliberately set ourselves ambitious goals because we believe that change requires the courage to take big steps. Because we all know that the time for rethinking is long overdue. That is why we are constantly driving forward innovations large and small ─ at our sites around the world, but also with global guidelines that apply beyond that.

First and foremost is our goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030. As part of the thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe steel service center network, our site in El Puig, for example, can significantly reduce emissions through several measures, including the use of LED lighting systems, the switch to electric forklifts and, finally, a large photovoltaic system. We are also innovating on the road, with the first HVO trucks entering service in the UK in 2024, and more to follow.

Acting sustainably also means fostering fair working conditions, equal opportunities and diversity, and constantly reviewing them. After all, these aspects not only drive creativity, but also strengthen a company's cohesion and innovative power. For this reason, we support and accompany young people as they enter the workforce, for example through the JOBLINGE initiative or our U.S. scholarship. As a responsible member of society, a safe working environment and responsible behavior are essential to building trust and ensuring long-term success.

Finally, respectful and cooperative cooperation is the basis of our corporate governance. To create a strong and trusting working environment, we are committed to clean business practices and actively work to improve social standards in our supply chain. In this way, we ensure that our values and ethical standards are reflected in all aspects of our business.

Old hardware, new life: Social-ecological impact with IT devices

Too often, old devices are simply thrown away. Yet there are ways to extend the life of hardware or save valuable raw materials through recycling.

Alternative drive systems in logistics

Transport processes cause up to 20 per cent of global CO2 emissions. Sustainable solutions in logistics are therefore crucial to counteracting climate change. thyssenkrupp Materials Services is already using alternative drive systems for trucks that are in use at several subsidiaries.

Innovative ways in supply chain management

Supply chains are the foundation of the global economy. They are a complex network that connects companies, markets, and people around the world. Their importance cannot be overstated, as they are critical to the success and resilience of any business. One thing is clear: the past few years and months have demonstrated once again the impact that unforeseen events can have on supply chains.

From an auction to a fundraising campaign

"Going once, going twice, sold!" – This phrase is usually correctly associated with auctions. At thyssenkrupp Materials Services, however, it was the culmination of a carefully planned fundraising campaign.
